Suna in Wonderland

In a Few hours 2010 will be started. I still remember being half excited and half fear to greet year of 2000. It seems just like yesterday to became 2000 but now we are now almost welcoming 2010.

Perhaps people live in Asia already know that this year would be a tiger year. Already there are lots of shop displays and product related to tiger in Asia.

In Asia, not only moon calendar but also 12 zodiacs animal calendar exists. There are 12 different animals and each animal would guard each year by taking turn.

For instance, this year (2009) is/was my year (ox) and in 2010 will be year of Tiger.

(When I was young, there was a cartoon that concept was based on 12 zodiacs animals. Main story is that these animals would fight against evils and keep world peace plus protecting princess on the right. Thanks to the theme song of this cartoon, i still can remember order of animal, everytime i need to find out the order, i sing this song )

Many Asian people look for fortune around this time. To see what would be good fortune or what to be careful of. Some really believe these things, some does it for fun and some just can’t get away from this since their parents or relatives go and get information of whole family from fortune teller. :p

Half for fun, half hoping that it will come true (only if it is positive fortune) I also looked what would be like this New Year.

So what is special about tiger year?

Tiger is generally know as driving out an evil spirit and calls good fortune. Therefore in old days every new year, people would hang out picture of tiger in front of their door.

Also as we can guess from characteristics of tiger, lots of great/worst leaders are born during year of tiger. That is why some pregnant women who’s baby is expecting in 2010 are really excited to see their baby even more hoping that their baby would become greatest leader in future.

Negative aspect is that in past history, there were lots of historical events such as  1^st world war and Korean war e.t.c. So it could also mean that this year, big historical events might occur. I hope this would be wrong and just in case, every nation would take extra caution to keep world in peace.

Believe it or not, one clear thing is that no one knows what would happen in future exactly. Guesses are free but have to wait until for result until 31st Dec of 2011 :p

I would say, it is all up to us to build it.
