Yesterday (4th Feb, 2010), I went to TV Studio in Shanghai after work. To be honest both my boyfriend and I had no Idea where we were going, just we got free entrance ticket to the show as well as complimentary drinks & Food so we decided to go and find out about the show. (Yes, I admit that I went there just because it was FREE!)
When we got there, we were surprised to see such a diverse people in terms of age and nationality. Provided food was pretty good that I started to doubt if this was trap for brain worship seminar or something
Later I was relieved that it was about attending as audience in a talk show.
Anyway big surprise was that we met Shanghai Shopping girl. We’ve been reading her blog since we came to Shanghai. She also came as audience. We had nice chat and felt that world is really small.
Coincidently first guest was South Korean singer & Actress, Lee Jung-Hyun. (Also Known as Ava) She performed her songs (WA & Crazy) and when she was on the stage, all of sudden boys from the front low start screaming and waving fans. (When she debut she carried fan and I guess that became her symbol)
It was interesting to see fan boys I was surprised that screaming boys were the one I sat together while I was enjoying free food. I would have never guessed that quiet boys were the noisy fan boys. I am sure Lee felt supported and loved.
Performance was good, but what really annoyed me was her English capacity. She really tried hard not to get help from translator but I thought it would have been better if she had used translator instead of looked silly. All she spoke was ‘I love Lady gaga’, ‘ I love Madonna’ and ‘Sorry’. At some point presenter kinda made fun of her but she just smiled and even said ‘Thanks you’.
(I was not suppose to take a photo, but i just wanted to prove that i was there! hehe girl in the yellow circle is Lee Jung hyun)
I guess Lee is trying to expose herself into Asian market other than Korea. I highly respect her effort but I wish she would have made careful choice on program that she will participate. Due to her shortage of English, she only stayed in the show about 10 minutes which was including her singing performance and movie clips. On the other hand, other guests stayed more than 20 minutes each.
If Lee could speak English, she could have had better chance to advertise herself by sharing her thoughts and opinion. After all it was a talk show!!! Anyway once again I felt how English is important as a communication tool.
Rest of guests was ok though they were not that interesting people to me. Show of AsiaUncut was generally nice. It was my first time being audience at TV studio and it was fun to see how back stage of TV program looks like and how it filmed. AsiaUncut does not air in mainland China although they record in Shanghai, anyway aired in 30 different countries.
