Recently i wrote article on how EXPO has changed Shanghai past few months. Now that time is ticking, i see new changes every day.
Today i saw double decker bus in the middle of the city. New types of bus!! (I saw this kind of bus @ pudong near pearl tower but never seen it other than pudong area) I wanted to take this bus and have tour around, but it was wrong direction for me.
Also in the bus, they play recorded tape teacing foreigner some basic chinese such as ” Where is EXPO place?”, ” Thank you”, ” Can you speak English” e.t.c.
In the metro, more and more volunteer people standing or helping creating queue. (Actually lining up in the metro is getting better compare to last week. between line 1 and line 2 there are more than 10 uniformed people (not sure if they are police) to make people queue up.
Everyday, i see new stuffs. I guess shanghai is 88% ready to receive foreigner.
I wonder what would be my new surprise tomorrow

88%?
From your description it sounds more like 86.5%. A large improvement, nonetheless.

I love the headline. It is cool to learn all these things about Shanghai I did not know before. I’m surprised to hear that Shanghai didn’t already have things like lining up for the subway and double decker buses because Beijing has had these a long time and I’ve always heard Shanghai is more foreign friendly. Maybe it’s just that Beijing experienced most of these changes in the year leading up to the Olympics.
