There are lots of places to go nearby Daejeon if you like nature and histories of Korea. Yesterday, my Dad took me to place called Buyeo (부여) also known as Baekje Period. Buyeo is one of most important historical place in South Korea which represent period of 2nd century BC to 494.

안녕 미피!

어디서 많이 본듯한 토끼 캐릭터. 헬로 키티랑 비슷해서 일본 캐릭터인줄 알았는데 알고 보니 네덜란드의 캐릭터 란다. 미피라고 불리는이 토끼 캐릭터는 네덜란드에서 우리나라의 둘리와 같은 존재이다.
네덜란드 예술가 딕 부르나 (Dick Bruna) 가 만든 이 토끼 시리즈는1955년 창간되어 약 30권에 달하며40개 이상의 언어들로 번역되어 현재 약 8천500만 권이 팔렸으며 TV 시리즈로도 만들어져 사랑을 받고 있는 작품이다.
미피의 탄생
미피의 탄생은 부르나가 자신의 1살짜리인 아들 Sierk 에게 작은 토끼 이야기를 해주면서 시작이 되었다. 원래 토끼는 뚜렷한 성이 없었지만 막상 부르나가 토끼를 그려야겠다고 마음을 먹고 옷을 그리다 보니 여자 토끼로 설정하게 되었다고 한다. 미피는 책마다 이야기에 따라서 아기 토끼부터 4살짜리 토끼가 될 수 있다.
부르나의 아이들에 대한 사랑은 남달랐다. 미피는 그림으로 불 수 있듯이, 최소의 스타일 (미니멀 스타일)로 선도 얼마 안되고 쓰여지는 색깔의 개수도 많지 않다. 하지만 그렇다고 절대 미피가 쉽게 그려진 것은 아니라고 한다. [...]

네덜란드…봄… 그리고 튤립

유난히도 길고도 긴 겨울이 지나고 드디어 봄이다. 봄이면 역시 제일먼저 생각나는 것이 꽃이 아닐까 싶다. 특별한 봄을 맞이하고 싶다면 네덜란드의 Keukenhof (부엌 정원 이라고도 불리면 컬큰호프 라고 부른다) 에 방문을 추천한다.
개인적으로 네덜란드에서 가장 마음에 드는 곳인 Keukenhof 는 지금 이때쯤, 4월에 방문하면 그리도 아름다울수가 없다. 화사한 꽃들이 활짝 펴서 반기는 모습을 보노라면, 이제야 진짜 봄이구나 [...]
